About

This blog is dedicated to providing an accurate interpretation of Mary Ann Randolph Custis Lee, wife of General Robert E. Lee and great granddaughter of Martha Washington, during the period of the Civil War.  During the Civil War Mrs. Lee had the particularly difficult situation of believing in a united country and yet her husband was a general in the Confederate military.  How did she reconcile these two realities?  Mrs. Lee’s life was not an easy one and with the sesquicentennial of the Civil War happening there is no time like the present to examine her beliefs, actions, sorrows, and triumphs.
